People today are living in a hurry and living a hard life in affluent urban life. Behind the active and positive aspects of a modern, very sophisticated city life lies a very dark, lonely and gloomy aspect of life. The number of people eating alone or drinking alone are growing in Korea nowadays. It is because the number of people living alone are growing. I want to give a small flowerpot as a gift to the people living alone in the lonely city. Life in the city would be less lonely if we could be with a flowerpot as of a vending machine which is common.

I grew up in the city. I studied horticulture, graphic design and Fine art. And that made me interested in how much joy plants could give to people. Any plants in the world make people calm.The plants give a bright side to themselves and others. I realize how important plants are as a city girl.

Mia Kim is an award-winning South Korean painter whose art has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally, as well as in Japan and the United States. Her works express the daily life of contemporary man, constantly busy in a rapidly changing city. Kim’s narratives are conveyed through simple shapes, vibrant colors and bold lines. She uses both acrylic and oil painting on canvas.

My work aims an artist's own story which is quite personal and descriptive. Small but touching experience felt in everyday life through 「The work looking into myself」. Childhood memories and inner story. This is not just an artist's own story but a self-portrait of everyone living today which is rapidly changing.

Recently through ‘Urban Landscape Project’, I am not just representing loneliness and mind of people today by a foliage plant’s indoor purification and primarily function to watch leaves in indoor space of the dreary city, but working data-on focusing data-on how the space changes when the plants are laid in indoor and outer space.

If there is a string on the back of the canvas or the back of the frame, you can hang it with a pin type that has a short hooking surface.
